What is the Book/Type field?
The Book/Type field in eCCLIX is used to locate recorded documents when you know the document's recording reference.
- Book identifies the volume in which the document was recorded.
- Type identifies the record series or book type used by the County Clerk (for example, Deed Book or Mortgage Book, depending on the county's recording system).
If you know the Book, Type, and Page information, this is often one of the quickest ways to locate a specific document.
I don't know the Book/Type. Can I still search?
Yes. If you do not know the Book/Type information, you can usually search using other information, including:
- Grantor (seller)
- Grantee (buyer)
- Party name
- Recording date or date range
- Instrument number (if known)
The available search options may vary by county.
Where do I find the Book/Type?
The Book/Type reference may appear on:
- A previously recorded deed or mortgage
- A title commitment or title report
- Closing documents
- Information provided by an attorney, title company, or lender
- Other recorded public records
I can't find the document I'm looking for.
If your search does not return the expected document:
- Verify the spelling of names.
- Confirm the Book, Type, and Page information is correct.
- Broaden your search by using a date range or party name.
- Keep in mind that document availability depends on what the County Clerk has made available through eCCLIX.
