Why Franchise Billing Assessments Can Differ Between County and School
When a Public Service bill shows mismatched totals for County and School assessments, it often means both share the same classification code.
If so, DTAX will calculate both from one value, even when the DOR apportions them differently.
Solution:
Verify classification codes for County and School.
Create separate codes if needed (e.g., 203 = County, 204 = School).
Recalculate or reenter the bill using the corrected codes.
Avoid manual edits when possible; consistent code setup prevents future mismatches.
